On Friday, October 6, 2017, a band from Clinton County Country Squares (CCCS) traveled to the sleepy rural town of Urbana. We had a newly hatched CCCS dancer, Denise ask curiously, “Where is Urbana, and what group are we visiting?” “Urbana is little over an hour from Wilmington, and we are visiting Concord Cloverleafs Squares (CCS)!” Colleen answered excitedly. “What is so special about CCS?” Denise asked, puzzled.
After we arrived, it did not take Denise very long to witness the old time aura of the school turned into community center to feel the nostalgia, friendliness and fun the Concord Cloverleafs Club packs into one evening to make it worth the drive. With the hobo themed square dance, some came in costume. We all brought canned food to contribute to the hobo stew. It was a feast. Eddie Powell called dynamically and Elaine Wintrow did an awesome job on cueing. The music was upbeat and kept our toes tapping. After we drove home, our group agreed that we can’t wait to visit again!!
